It is
obvious that services passing through unsealed openings in fire
resisting elements of structure will also allow flames, smoke and
hot gases to pass through creating an unnecessary hazard. We are
able to supply and install a selection of products designed to
seal these gaps, providing an effective fire resistance of up to
4 hours. The type of product used would depend upon the special
needs on site.

Compound and Coated Panel Systems
|
|
|
Mortar systems are used where mechanical strength is required
such as service penetrations in floors which may be required to
accept foot traffic or around fire dampers which require rigid
support. They are also ideal for sealing odd shaped or poorly accessible
spaces in horizontal penetrations because the mortar will flow
around the services completely filling the void. Mortars are available
in densities typically between 800kg/m3 to 2000kg/m3.

Mineral wool slabs for fire stopping are supplied in various forms;
often referred to as batts, slabs or panels. Manufactured from a
range of high melting point mineral wool of densities ranging from
100kg/m3 to 200kg/m3. They can be used in a wide variety of fire
stopping applications to seal penetrations through walls and floors
and, being softer than mortar, allow the easy installation of further
services. However the seal must be properly reinstated after further
services have been installed.
